Skill 8 - Alpha Stigma (Voluntary)
Nov. 6th, 2011 01:55 pmSo this is the second level of Ryner's Alpha Stigma. It doesn't really have levels, but I'm breaking it up so it's a more interesting process. The third level will be magic duplication.
First, here's a run-down of how Alpha Stigma works.
This upgrade allows Ryner to activate those abilities at will, as opposed to needing a catalyst. Though any magic thrown in his way will still activate the reflexive mode. What's new about this is that Ryner can now analyze magical items and PEOPLE. Ryner has always had inklings of magical power in people. Now, he can SUPER SENSE it. And if he uses his Alpha Stigma, he will be able to tell whether it is a curse, enhancement or a latent power. Essentially if you are MADE OF MAGIC, Ryner will know and will also have a general idea of what type of magic you are made of. See the previous link for limitations on Alpha Stigma's abilities.
This also means that Ryner can undo spells launched his way/in front of him because he sees the structure well enough to undo it. Now, really complicated magic will naturally take longer to sort through so there is some leeway there as far as whether attacks connect and the like. Again, this does not apply to Personae magic, which I am classifying as GODLY and therefore beyond his power's reach.
And as said before, Ryner can analyze magical items and tell what makes them tick and what they're made of.
If you have something special about your character and magic that Ryner would notice, let me know below. Also, if there are things about your chara that you would rather he NOT notice or for some reason believe are beyond his abilities, let me know. In general, Ryner is discreet about what he knows and won't throw it in your face unless he REALLY REALLY doesn't trust you and considers you to be a threat. Or he's worried about you. o/
