- Ryner's friends with special eyes like his are under attack by a spy from a rival nation.
- The spy has a magical stone that enhances his power and allows him to remove the magical eyes from wielders, killing them. Several magic eyes wielders are killed, causing Ryner to go into a suicidal run at the spy, flinging magic at him.
- Ferris stops Ryner and blocks the spy's attack herself. She snaps at him for trying to kill himself, telling him that he can't call himself her friend if he's not going to care about himself. She emphasizes that she will never see him as a monster.
- The spy taunts them, saying that Ryner is truly a monster, but Ferris says it doesn't matter and that Ryner deserves to live as much as anyone.
- Ryner asks if it's okay for him to lie and Ferris tells him that if he died, she'd be lonely.
- The spy attacks Ferris again and then uses his stone to trigger Alpha and try to remove Ryner's eyes.
- Ryner remembers the people who care about him and repels Alpha, as others help him fight off the spy.
- The spy taunts Ryner about his true nature and then escapes.
- After the fight, Ferris tells Ryner how much she and Sion missed him.
- Ryner agrees to come back after making Ferris promise to kill him if he goes berserk again.

F: Mm! My heart is naturally overflowing with love for the sacred dango all the time, but... I meant the kind between a man and woman.
R: For real?! Heeeh, I didn't think you'd ever care about that. [lit. "the day you'd awaken to this would come."]
F: I wasn't talking about myself; I'm more interested in asking you: Are you... are you in love with a woman?
R: Why are you asking me--?
F: Hurry up and answer!
R: ...Me? [Sigh] I...

R: [groaning]
F: What're you doing, Number One?! After them!!
R: You're dragging me!! OW!! OW!! I-- I'm bleeding. I'm! I'm gonna die! AHH...HAHAHA! [That laughter is more like cries of pain]
F: You bastard! Don't think that I'll let you get away with touching my sister!
M: Iris-chan, I like you!
I: I really like you, too!
R: No matter how you look at it, they're lovers, aren't they? See? They're holding hands; getting all chummy-- Hey, Ferris?
F: DOYOOON [onomatopoeia for being in a daze]
R: Oi, you okay?
F: I'm taking a trip.
R: Eh? Where?
F: A sad journey to the Wynnit Dango shop.
R: All of a sudden?!
F: Don't look for me.
R: You already told me where you're going.
F: [Sighs]
R: Oi, are you okay? Want me to go with?
F: Oh... if you bought one hundred dango sets for my depressed self--
R: --No can do.
F: If you don't, my heart will stop beating--
R: --Impossible.
R: [screams]
F: If you won't even buy one dango, you're a useless man!
[Runs away]
[Outside the inn]
R: Ahh, I'm finally back. [Yawns] I'm so sleepy, I'm gonna die. Three days with no sleep is tough. Early tomorrow morning, that bastard Sion will probably greet me with "let's get to work~," so I'd better get to bed right away.
R: Ah, that's right. I should tell Sion that Iris has a boyfriend tomorrow. That guy sees himself as her guardian, so I'm looking forward to seeing how he'll react.
I&B: JIIIIIIIII~~
R: Huh? Iris and... her boyfriend... What's going on? Why're you looking at me like that?
I: We're monitoring the wild beast.
R: What? You're on a date, aren't you?
I&B: JIIIIIIIII~~
R: Why are you looking at me like that? Is it that amusing?
I&B: JIIIIIIIII~~
R: Ah... whatever. I'll be going now.
[Walks away]
[Outside the inn (again)]
R: Ahhh... so sleepy. I'm almost at my bed... I don't even want to change clothes... I just want to jump into bed like...
[Digging noises]
I: UWAH! The wild beast is back!
R: What're you doing there?
I: Digging a trap!
R: Why in front of the inn?
I: So the wild beast falls in.
R: Huh? Why would I do that?
I: So I can kill you!
R: You're planning on killing me with that stake at the bottom of that pit?
I: Right! So come back in an hour, 'kay? It'll be ready by then!
R: Haah, yes. I, see-- YEAH, RIGHT!!

R: O-- oi... Wh-- why're you staring at me like that again?
I&B: Secret.
R: --!! I'm gonna kill you~~~ What's with these kids?! Even though I wouldn't I'm so tired, I REALLY WANT TO...

R: Stop bugging me, already! If you keep this up, I'll howl like a wild beast, just like Ferris said! I'm going to bed, hurry off and hang out somewhere else.
R: Haaah, AH AH AH, I'm back, my bed! Thank you for being so fluffy. Ah... huh? A gap in the ceiling?
I&B: JIIIIIIIII~~
R: When did those two--? I'm seriously getting messed with!
S: Alright, now boy.
B: Right. [Shoots a poison dart]
R: What the hell was that?! Poison?! You'll ruin the pillow, oi!
S: Aw geez, it missed?
R: Why is Sion there? Now, I'm pissed! I told you I was gonna howl, didn't I? I'm not gonna forgive--
S: DIS~A~PPEAR~
I&B: 'KAY!
R: Running away?! I OFFER THE CONTRACTED WORDS, LETTING THE SLUMBERING MALICIOUS SPIRIT DWELL WITHIN! Take that!
I&B: [Blasting off again]
R: So, what was that for? Why were you hiding in the ceiling with them?
S: You want to know why... is that what you mean?
R: Wh-- why're you speaking so dramatically?
S: Since you want to know, no matter what... I'll tell you.
R: Y-- yeah... [swallowing hard]
S: I came to your hotel to force you to work... since the task couldn't wait until morning; and happened upon Iris and boy who intended to kill you. Since it seemed really interesting, I asked them to let me lend a hand. In fact, I was kind of--
R: GET LOST!!
S: [Is sent flying too] AHHH!!
R: [Sigh]
S: [Hacking up blood]
R: Even if I think I kind of overdid it, because of him, I'm gonna die of sleep deprivation soon. He can sleep his injuries off. And now... as for you two... why don't you try explaining the circumstances to me this time? If you don't tell me obediently, as Ferris said, I'll--
I: HOWL OUT LOUD?? When you change, will you get all furry?
R: Why would I get furry--
I: RIGHTRIGHTRIGHTRIGHTRIGHT?
R: SHUT UP!!
I: Kyuuu.... [Passes out]
R: Now it's quiet. Moving on: Boy, obediently explain why--
B: So wonderful~
R: Eh?
B: I'll explain whatever you want me to! I'll do anything to stay beside you!
R: Eh? Why're you looking all starry-eyed at me like that?
B: I love you! It's love at first sight!
R: HAAAAH?! D-- don't you love Iris?
B: The one I like, Ryner-san, is YOU! Didn't you feel my warmth resonating towards you?
R: Your warmth... When you were staring at me before?! Didn't you say you were monitoring me?!
B: That's because a certain reliable source told me you're "a pervert who'd get turned on knowing someone was watching you."
R: Hey... could it be that that reliable source was...
B: It was Ferris-san!
R: SO IT *WAS* THAT DEMON'S DEED!!
B: Ferris-san isn't a demon at all! She listened to my worries and is a very nice person! She said, "Since he's an innate pervert, he prefers taking wives and other people by force, as opposed to proper beauties like myself. So long as you conceal your interest, you'll surely ignite his passion!" And things like that!
R: That girl... aside from what she said to you, you went along with Iris's plan...
B: Ferris-san also said, "If he falls into the trap and gets impaled by the stake, he'll be so overcome, he won't be able to speak!"
R: "So overcome, I won't be able to speak" she says... I think it's more like "dead..."
B: AH! I heard that too! "The greatest pleasure for a masochist like Ryner-san would be the moment he gets killed..." A cool-looking silver-haired man who had poison told me that and then said, "Um... may I entrust this to you?"
R: But then... why did you want to discuss it with Ferris?
B: Well, you're always together... and you look so happy toge--
R: I'M NOT!! My outburst aside... You mean, it looked like we're lovers to you?
B: It does, but when I asked Ferris-san, she said,"There's no way the man who holds the Number One rank in stupidity with zero ambition could be the lover of a transcendent goddess like myself, is there?"
R: [tense, a bit irritated] Heeeh... and so?
B: But... when I told her Ryner-san might like Ferris-san, she told me to "try to confirm it."
R: Ah... was that the reason for that vague conversation we had earlier?
B: Ryner-san, you don't have any feelings for Ferris-san, do you?
R: Yeah, that's not even a question-- Hmph... No... It's not good to lie. I have a woman I like.
B: W-- Who is it?
R: It's Ferris.
[There's a thump from the ceiling]
R: Truth is, we've been dating for two years. We're planning to get married next year.
[Louder rustling]
B: But Ferris-san said--!
R: Don't be fooled, boy. The two of us are SUPER LOVEY-DOVEY EVERY DAY!
F: R-- Ryner!
R: Yo, Ferris!
B: Ferris-san!
F: Ryner, you bastard!
R: Kid, listen well: As you can see, Ferris is so shy, she hides in the ceiling instead of the bed to see my sleeping face. If you pester her for a week, she should tell you the truth!
F: Wh-- what're you talking about?!
B: Ferris-san! Is it true you're marrying Ryner-san?
F: HEY!
B: Please tell me the truth!!
F: I don't know! I-- I won't forget this, Ryner!!
B: W-- WAIT~~~
R: [Yawns] Victory... Now I can sleep peacefully... [Snoring]
[Running outside]
B: FERRIS-SAAAAAAN! Are you super lovey-dovey with Ryner-san?!
F: NO! That has nothing to do with me! RRRRRRRYNEEEEERRRR!! You jerk! I'm gonna make you buy me one hundred twenty dango sets for this!

- Guy Ferris and Ryner are fighting using a magical item to trigger Ryner's Alpha Stigma.
- Alpha takes over and fucks up the guy's arm, blows up shit, attacks Ferris and generally unpleasant stuff, while the guy and his sister run away.
- Ferris fights Alpha and dodges his attacks, while trying to talk Ryner back into control.
- Ferris forces herself into Ryner's personal space, despite his magic, as he begs her to close his eyes.
- When she attempts, he tries to strangle her, but Ferris manages to win him back long enough by telling him he's not a monster. She closes his eyes and Ryner collapses against her.
- Ryner laments being a monster and tells Ferris to go back to Roland without him.
- Ferris chides him for not being able to kill her and tells her to come back so they can eat dango.

Date: 2014-02-20 07:27 pm (UTC)They made it-- barely-- traveling as far as they possibly could before sundown; settling at an inn in some nameless town just outside Roland's border.
He knows this won't be the last attack: Miran won't be the only one after their heads. After all, they were traitors to Roland. Even if they could manage to evade them, the greatest threat to the Eris sisters would still be right beside them:
Himself.
Even though he can accept that he is a monster; even though Ferris is fine with what he is; even though he had gone berserk and managed to regain his sanity; even though he and Ferris made a vow that she would take his life if he passed the point of no return; he'd only be deluding himself if he thought any of that negated the fact that he was dangerous. Those things allow him to rest a little easier, but will never make him less of a threat to anyone.
Right in the middle of that thought, sharp pain rips through his jawbone; the force of the strike laying him out in a graceless sprawl on the bed.
"What's with that face?" an emotionless voice asks from the shadows. "Why, if I didn't know any better, I'd think you were the one who almost died today."
He relaxes at the sound of the voice, too mentally exhausted to pick a fight.
"You could've knocked, Ferris."
"I did, but you didn't answer. Fortunately, the door just happened to open, after I kicked it a couple times.”
He doesn’t know how on earth she managed to reduce a hunk of solid wood to mere splinters that futilely cling to what remains of the hinges without anyone noticing. He doesn’t want to know how much of their nonexistent funds would have to go towards repairing it. The bothersome thoughts halt as she continues:
“I called your name several times more, but you still didn't respond. You were obviously too lost in your lascivious fantasies to notice."
"It wasn't like that."
"A likely story, sex fiend."
"Seriously, I was thinking about. . ." he pauses, sighing. "Forget it."
"No. Not when you're making a face like that."
"Like what?"
"Sion's."
The face of a man who has the weight of the world on his shoulders and refuses to share the burden with anyone.
"Ah. . . "
“Is that all you have to say for yourself?”
“You could have died.”
“But I didn’t. What else?”
The floorboards creak as she approaches him. In the dim light of the room, he can see the hint of a smile gracing her lips, as if to set him at ease, to distract him from the bandages that cover her body. She tries to keep him from noticing the way she slightly favors her right leg, how her breathing is shallow and rhythm-less, or that her grip isn’t as firm as it ought to be when she takes his hand in hers.
“Don’t give me that ‘what else?’ crap. You’re really in pain, aren’t you?”
She opens her mouth as if to argue, then looks away. Her fingers quiver around his as she tries to tighten her grasp, before they relax, unable to handle the strain. He knows he should comfort her; he wants to, but does he really have that right? If they’d never met, she and Iris probably would’ve been protected by Sion and Lucile, enjoying a peaceful life at the Eris family compound, spending their days visiting Roland’s dango shops as they did their best to become Dango Masters, while the war raged on without them.
“Of course I am, you idiot. What good would admitting it do? ...Haven’t I worried you enough?”
“I could’ve lost you!” his voice echoes in the bare room as he draws her in by the shoulders, fingers tightening over the rough makeshift bandages. At the same time, she slams her palm against his mouth with enough force to make his lips and gums ache.
“Pipe down. Iris will hear you...”
His eyes flit to the open door frame on reflex and relief washes over him when he finds it all clear.

Date: 2014-02-20 07:31 pm (UTC)- Ryner is staying at a young noble's house and finds Sion eating at the table.
- Sion claims he is a cousin, while he asks information about the noble's kingdom. Ryner has trouble catching on and Sion keeps kicking him under the table.
- Ferris teases Ryner about being a womanizer and the noble comments on the trio's friendship.
- The noble is taking care of the bastard children of his father, although he has blood ties to the throne and the prince's ministers consult with him. He himself is also a bastard.
- Ryner praises the noble's nature and says he's better than Sion, leading Sion to kick him again.
- Sion gives Ryner and Ferris another mission.

- When Ryner is still a teenager, his training group gets slaughtered while on a mission. All that's left are him and Sion. They work together to fight the mages.
- While trying to save Sion, Ryner reveals his Alpha Stigma's power to copy. Sion snarls at him for not using that magic earlier to save people, and Ryner says he never wanted to use his power again, not since seven years.
- The mages knock out Ryner and capture Sion.
- The mages torture Sion and Ryner's girl friend until Ryner snaps and Alpha takes over.
- Alpha kills all the mages (about 40) and then tries to kill Sion and the girl, saying they are interferences.
- Ryner manages to fight back and Sion closes his eyes, causing Ryner to pass out.
- Ryner wakes up to the carnage around him.

- An imprisoned bedraggled Ryner believes he's walking to his execution when he's confronted by Ferris.
- She proceeds to beat the crap out of him and they fight until she convinces him to go with her to the king instead of being executed.
- Ryner realizes that Sion has become king.
- Sion tells Ryner about how their mutual friend is doing well and then gives him the mission to join up with Ferris to hunt down ancient relics. Or be executed.
- Sion's mission is based on a report Ryner wrote about peace and the relics.
- Sion further blackmails Ferris into going along with it by threatening to take away her dango shops.

- The threat is another man with magic eyes that devours people. The man kills some soldiers.
- The man wants Ryner to come with him, saying he's the only one who can understand him.
- The man reveals Ryner is an Alpha Stigma to Sion's army, causing them to freak out and Ryner to take it badly.
- Sion tries to defuse the situation, but Ryner reveals that he knows Sion sent a letter to an assassin to kill Ryner if he ever loses control. Ryner says he doesn't want to be a burden to his friends anymore.
- He boosts the cannibal's magic and the two escape together, despite Ferris and Sion's protests.

- Ryner is wandering around in the rain when Sion comes to get him in his carriage.
- Sion takes them back to their old training institute to reminisce. It's the first place Sion tried to get Ryner to work with him.
- Ryner complains about all the work they'd been doing lately and Sion teases him about allowing him four hours of sleep. Ryner says Sion doesn't sleep enough.
- Sion talks about all the challenges of running a peaceful country.
- Ryner apologizes for not believing in Sion's dreams when they were younger and says Sion really has changed things for the better.
- Sion says too many people have died for it.
- Ryner still tries to encourage him and tells him he can relax once in a while, that Sion has lots of friends who will help him and that Sion isn't alone. He also has him.
- Sion says he wishes that were true.

They don’t like reluctant tears, and they don’t like to cry for nothing.
What’s the feeling like when someone can’t choose their own life?
How does it feel to have a family member die?
What is the emotional state when someone a person likes dies?
Nobody wants to face these, but why is the world laughing and thirsting greedily for this meaningless sadness?
I’ve never thought of trying to change anything. But if I don’t change it, sadness will be unavoidable, and I don’t want to lose anything…
It may be troublesome to say this, but…
It’s time to move forward. I’ve always been trying my best not to face this problem head on, but if there’s a need, why not look back at my past head on?
And,
To enjoy a world where a person won’t lose anything and anyone.
A wonderful world where that girl and Kiefer won’t cry, Tai, Tony and Fualu won’t die, and Sion wouldn’t be in a dilemma.
Moving forward to a world where everyone is happy and could sleep all day.
