The skill was pretty immense... I've remembered him doing it before, transferring the power from my eyes into magical blasts from his hands. They killed people instantly...
I can fix up the damage already done. And I do have a few things I can add. In theory they should work, it makes sense, but it would be the first real test to the theory.
That would be why I wasn't surprised by Solstice's little skill. [Haha, I will always make jokes about it.] I was rather annoyed at him, played a prank, and he turned it around by throwing me that curveball. Well, his subconscious did.
I didn't have his true name at the time, so all I could do is plant a story in his head and watch it. Since it was 'mine,' I was allowed. He would be forced to follow the script somewhat, to the extent of being in certain areas at certain times, but his reactions are his own, and he could alter the dream to an extent.
Which is why his subconscious did what it did, I think. It was to give him something 'strange' that everyone saw as 'real.' So his mind forced in the strangest thing, because suddenly frogmen aren't so strange when you're the amazing shrinking detective.
But if I had a true name, I could see someone's dreams if I wanted, without it being written by me. I could change it while in effective instead of all prewritten as well. Probably a bit more, but I didn't delve into that magic often.
Though all magic like that requires me to be 'present' in the dream at least once. Makes it solid so the dreamer doesn't derail it entirely.
Hmmmm....it's not really the same, no. For one, the fact Solstice had noticed it was a dream at all is very remarkable. Yet it seems those in communal dreaming can become aware far more easily.
Well, it's not the dream magic exactly, it just most closely resembles that.
It'll interfere with 'foreign' mental influences. The....the closest metaphor I have is a TV thing, but you wouldn't understand that, would you? It'll be like...a bell is trying to be heard, but there's already another bell ringing, so it's hard to hear. On it's own, it wouldn't do it, but it's still another layer with the rest.
