Memory 28: @Ryner Eris Reed's new friend

This is another Reed memory, which means it won't make a lick of sense to Ryner. For this memory, which I originally planned to do using a section from the sequel (which was later proven to be an incorrect version told by another party), I will be using a combination of translations and Sion-mun's summary. It's all right if it's a bit confusing since well, Reed is FUCKING CRAZY. And very special. That's why we love him.

Part 1 of memory is here. Start at Chapter 3: The Reason for Existence.

HOWEVER, I will be fogging out the part with Ryner's name because I'm an ass like that. :) So Ryner does not know he IS Reed just yet. I'll save that for later. Also, remember Ryner only remembers Ryner's thought process, NOT Asruld/Sion's.

After Sion/Asruld drives his sword through Ryner Eris Reed's left eye and through his skull, Ryner bleeds a lot but doesn't die. Which is understandably CONFUSING AS HELL to Asruld. Reed asks whether Asruld really wants to kill him, while Asruld asks why Reed didn't dodge.

Reed replies something along the lines of "You are my first, best friend ever! So if killing e makes you happy, that's all right~."

Still perplexed, Asruld then attempts to kill Reed again, while Reed smiles happily. The whole time Reed still has Asruld's black sword stuck in his skull.

What he learns?

- He's back in that place of endless gray. So this is another of the Demon's memories. Why does he keep getting these? He never made any contract like Sion did. DID HE?
- The Demon's also next to a golden-haired man who's covered in golden blood. Asruld?
- Apparently, Asruld thinks the Demon is a monster.
- Due to the wounds he received, Asruld has been asleep for almost 200 years while the Demon waited beside him the entire time. Um, what?
- Asruld thinks the Demon is a banished Goddess since they are in the place where the Goddesses send Goddesses who've gone mad.
- The Demon doesn't know where he came from, just that he's always been alone. Ryner really really feels this and it HURTS. It feels just like his other memories where he was afraid he had no right to be around people. Why are they so much alike, him and the Demon? That doesn't make sense at all...
- It feels like the Demon's incredibly happy to be talking to the man.
- The Demon named himself, although Ryner can't make out what he said his name was. The Demon's never heard it spoken by someone else before and Ryner can tell that just hearing it makes him incredibly happy.
- Asruld is also called Sion, though he says the name has no meaning to him. Well... guess that explains their connection...
- Asruld was born for the sole purpose of destruction and believes his only meaning is to destroy the Demon. Which explains why he devoured him later. Probably.
- The Demon also has Alpha Stigma??? Or something a lot like it. Is this its origin?
- The Demon tried to use it on Asruld, but Asruld lunges at him with a black sword that feels REALLY FUCKING POWERFUL.
- WHY THE HELL DIDN'T THE DEMON DODGE THAT??? And why does it feel like he's smiling THE ENTIRE TIME? While we're at it, WHY THE HELL ISN'T HE DEAD?
- Okaaaay, apparently the Demon didn't dodge because he thinks it's all right if Asruld kills him since he sees Asruld as his first and best friend. ... Where do you even begin with that fuckery? Though... the sentiment doesn't feel entirely unfamiliar...
- OMG IS ASRULD STILL TRYING TO KILL HIM?

What this means to Aather?

WTF V.2. This memory confuses the crap out of Ryner as much as his other Reed memory. But it actually bothers him more than experiencing getting devoured since he REALLY feels a connection to Reed this time. Maybe it's just the similarity of feeling forever alone, but somehow it seems... more than that. He just can't pinpoint it. Especially since Reed also has Alpha Stigma, even though his seems WAY MORE ADVANCED AND COMPLICATED than Ryner's. And all that's a lot more frustrating and disconcerting. That probably weirds him out even more than hearing Reed call Asruld "Sion," though that's pretty damn bizarre on its own.

Of course, there's also general WTF toward Reed's cavalier attitude toward death and his assumption that Asruld is his friend, even though Asruld is clearly NUTS. Then again, Reed is none too stable himself. 0_o That said, Ryner also can't help relating to Reed's desperate need to connect to someone. And since Ryner does think of himself as something that shouldn't exist, he can't say he would be averse to giving up his life if his the person he considered was his friend was the one trying to kill him. Though, his experiences in Aather and his latest memory have also convinced Ryner that others would be deeply hurt were he to do so. So he knows he would have more qualms about letting someone kill him so freely now...

Oh yeah, by the way, I have this categorized under Sig Pos because it honestly is one of Reed's HAPPIEST moments EVER. :DDDD BEST SIG POS!
