Skill 9 - Alpha Stigma: Copy

stigmateyesOkaaay, this is probably the most broken of Ryner's abilities and is what essentially makes Alpha Stigma so damn powerful.
As I've referenced before, Alpha Stigma is pretty much Sharingan for magic. Ryner can copy any magical spell he sees instantly. He can do this either reflexively when magic is used on him or voluntarily when he is shown magic. This is a result of his ability to understand the components of spells and therefore replicate them flawlessly.
Rules of Alpha Stigma's copy ability:
- Once Ryner has copied a spell, he can replicate it at any time.
- It cannot copy magic that isn't a spell. Though it can still analyze it. This means if your magic isn't something learned, Ryner can't copy it.
- As mentioned before, it cannot analyze/copy anything DIVINE.
- If your spell requires an item to perform, it cannot be replicated.
- It cannot copy illusion magic/curses, though it can BREAK them, depending on the complexity.
- Everything else is fair game.
- Whenever Ryner uses the actual copy ability, he will likely get woozy and could pass out, depending on the power of the spell. Using the stolen ability later on will be much harder on him than his regular magic since it's not his.

Date: 2011-11-28 07:06 am (UTC)I'm going to say that his magic is semi-copyable, but with some caveats.
* Using a spell learned from Josh without modifying it will probably cause spontaneous combustion and death; his magic taps his massively overclocked bioelectric field, and trying to mimic that without an overclocked bioelectric field yourself, well. It might be possible for a genius like Ryner to modify them to work with a Roland-like power source, but probably not easily.
* The elemental magics -- fire, air and water, of which he has air back -- are free-form in the same way Mithos's direct manipulations are free-form and probably can likewise be analyzed but not copied.
* Anything he does with his aura at this point is basically stuff out of condensed mana and thus most likely highly impractical for anyone who doesn't have a metric ton of MP.
If he ever gets back formal spells -- people do use them in his canon, just not the twins yet, and I'm waiting on book 6 to see if Josh ever learns -- Ryner can probably copy those, with the energy caveat.
