Memory 43 - Significant Negative
Aug. 26th, 2012 11:41 amMemory 43: Lir vs. God's Eyes
Memory goes here, starting at 7:00 and ending around 10:50 when Ryner charges Liir.
What he learns?
- One of Gastark attacked Lafra and others!
- The man killed Lafra as he was trying to save another one of the God's Eyes
- Tiir was badly injured in the fight
- One of the God's Eyes activated Alpha Stigma and snapped
- Before Ryner could reach her, Liir removed her eyes with a stone, killing her
- He'd never known such rage before that moment...
- The man has a Ring of Lightning Beasts, just like Miran. Another relic. And it's powerful to even take down Tiir.
- He couldn't stop him from killing even more of Tiir's children...
What this means in Aather?
Obviously, this is a pretty bad memory for Ryner, as it involves a lot of death and a lot of helplessness. It also shows him that the Magic Eyes aren't completely immune and that certain items can destroy them and harness their magic. Sui mentioned something like this in another of Ryner's memories. But it's something else entirely so see it play out! Ryner is horrified he couldn't save Lafra, who seemed so kind and gentle, or the other God's Eyes who died so pointlessly. Just because this Gastark wanted their power. This memory is big for the sheer burning RAGE that's present in Ryner and the true desire to kill, something that both frightens and satisfies him. Because who would do that to people?!
In real time, Ryner is taking this memory at the heart of many losses (Paleon, Sion, Sky and "Pascal") so it hits especially hard in that helpless spot. It makes him truly afraid that he can't protect anyone or anything, no matter what he does. And since he's been struggling so hard to protect Amethyst lately since so many of them are new, it knocks him wildly off-center. :(b
