Memory 24 - Significant Negative
Oct. 23rd, 2011 12:03 pmMemory 24: Lucile tells Ryner he has no chance with Ferris
Memory goes here until end of scene with Lucile
What he learns?
- He thinks someone dangerous is around Eris house.
- He finds Ferris brother while trying to analyze house.
- Lucile's power is immense.
- Lucile jokes that Ferris won't show him her true power.
- Lucile agrees to leave Ferris and Sion to Ryner.
- Ryner says that's Lucile's job and realizes Lucile can't leave Roland.
- Lucile has a binding curse to Roland, Alpha Stigma can't detect him at all.
- He thinks Lucile isn't human.
- Lucile tries to strangle him with his power and taunts him about his unrealizable dreams regarding being with people. He warns Ryner his blood will never mingle with Ferris' since she's human, unlike them.
- Lucile tells him it's fine to leave Ferris to him since a monster like Ryner knows better than to touch her.
- Lucile says he can't touch anyone since he doesn't even value being alive.
- Lucile says he doesn't hate him.
What this means to Aather
Well, this pretty much ensures Ryner will be a lot more distant around people. He won't avoid them or otherwise act different in anyway since the thing he understands he can't push for is closeness. As Lucile said, it's fine to entrust people to him since he knows better than to try for anything more. Casual kinship is fine but nothing deeper. It also emphasizes the fact that he is not human and can't ever see himself as such, as well as broadening the distance between him and most humans, who he has no right to want to get close to. It especially makes him edgy around Ferris and Sion, particularly in terms of affection and, in Sion's case, physical contact.
I want to emphasize this is NOT EASY for Ryner to shake off. Telling him it's all right and such is not really effective because Ryner KNOWS what he is. Though he does listen to his friends and does sincerely TRY to believe it will be okay, mostly for their sake so he doesn't upset or worry them. Truthfully, he is not easily swayed. And even if he relents, there is that ever-niggling unsurety that eats at him. It is not an easily solved situation and it is something he has to overcome with time.
